It's pretty hot here, we hit 53 C in Najaf last week and the electricity is a nuisance. On the clinic front, the work is slow but steady, not aided by this hot summer we're having. We see about 50-75 patients a week and the numbers are gradually increasing. We'll be starting an advertising campaign, inshallah, to spread the word of our work and are also looking to visit the local tribes and clans around the Najaf area to provide vision testing and on-site ophthalmic treatment. This needs a lot of negotiation and tactful diplomacy as they rule in their respective areas I'll report back soon. I've been invited to the Iraqi Ophthalmic Society's annual meeting in Baghdad, a 2-day event which kicks off on Thursday 29 July.
